The Corporate Relations Committee (CR) acts as the liaison between our corporate sponsors and PLDT. CR committee members are responsible for finding the contact information of potential company sponsors, securing sponsors, and communicating with sponsors prior to the conference. Ideal members of CR are punctual, professional, and strong communicators. We offer a great opportunity to build relationships with recruiters.
The Education Committee was created to reach out the local community through initiatives that align with leadership development. The committee represents Pamplin College of Business at local high schools by talking to classes about college and career-related topics. This year, the committee did a resume-building workshop with high school students and answered questions about college and Virginia Tech. The committee hopes to expand its efforts to make a positive impact on rising college students in the area.
The Hospitality Committee oversees the hospitality and catering needs of the conference and organizes team activities throughout the year such as workshops and dinners. The committee is responsible for securing the conference venue, picking caterers for the meals, and providing thank you gifts for the employers and speakers that attend. We help other committees and have a variety of smaller tasks in preparation for the conference. We hope to organize team-building activities this year along with an event with Pamplin Leadership Development Team alumni.
The Materials Committee is responsible for developing the conference booklet and maintaining the PLDT website. We order and distribute conference materials, including booklets, company signs, and name tags. Responsible individuals interested in creating graphics or writing are ideal members of the Materials Committee. We work closely with other committees and work heavily in the months leading up to the conference.
The Public Relations Committee is responsible for the team’s marketing efforts. We utilize social media, businfo, and other platforms to promote our conference, workshops, and team brand. We work heavily in the fall semester to reach students through social media and campus marketing efforts to encourage them to apply to the conference. As a member of the PR Committee, you will be in charge of making engaging posts on one of our social media platforms and brainstorming new ways to promote PLDT.
