23rd Annual Conference

Our 2022 Conference consisted of workshops run by EY, ALKU, Consulting Group at Virginia Tech, and The Pamplin Leadership Development Team's Education and Outreach Committee. During the conference, students networked with EY, ALKU, KPMG, RSM, Belk, and Ferguson. Participants also had the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Kimberly Davis-Riffe. Kimberly is a Senior Partner with KPMG LLP and is responsible for the firm’s National Financial Services Advisory Practice, focusing on Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk Management.

Each of our sponsors had its own table which participants would visit during our networking sessions. The sessions were divided based on the grade level of our participants. Juniors and seniors networked first followed by freshmen and sophomore students.

All students from Virginia Tech were given the opportunity to apply to attend our 23rd Annual Student Leadership Conference. Students ranged from freshmen to seniors and were majoring primarily in BIT, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Economics.

Each of these individuals helped to ensure that our Conference was a success and that participants had everything they needed to be able to participate in workshops, network, and have a great time!

Students Participating in a Workshop

Students were able to meet new people at the conference and gain a better understanding of what companies are looking for. They had the opportunity to pass on their resumes to recruiters, enjoy the catering provided by the PLDT's Hospitality Committee, and interact with companies they were interested in.

A Student Networking with ALKU

ALKU gave a workshop on how forming connections can help students significantly in their efforts to join the workforce. Life-long connections are valuable and through this workshop and networking session, students were able to interact with company representatives and give them their elevator pitches.

The Lego Workshop Hosted by PLDT

The Pamplin Leadership Development Team's Education and Outreach Committee gave students a workshop that involved collaborating with the students at their table to solve a problem using legos. This workshop allowed students to learn more about critical thinking, communication, and adapting based on situations that they are put in.
